Today, 1st of May, our research project, DeToxSea, starts. This project, funded by the Marie Curie actions for two years, aims at evaluating the demographic effects of mercury-selenium toxic contamination on Arctic wildlife. This work will be carried out at LIENSs laboratory (La Rochelle, France) in collaboration with the CEBC (Chizé, France). You can know more about the research team here.
The first task will be to compile blood samples, Capture-Mark-Recapture data, and reproductive output information of little auks (Alle alle), making use of the long-term (15 years) dataset from the ADACLIM program (French Polar Institute).
And if the last COVID measures allow us, we will participate in the fieldwork campaign at Kape Høegh (East Greenland), to collect new data and extract different samples from little auks, doing our bit for this long data set.
